Loving Jesus. should not feel so difficult. I've realized recently how frustrated I get over attending 2 hour meetings for ministry, having to outreach during my lunch break and give up my time to serve or go to Bible study. I am more concerned about what people expect me to to do then what Jesus wants me to do.
"When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes Lord, you know that I love you." He said to to him, feed my lambs. He said to him a second time "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes Lord, you know that I love you." He said to Him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep...and after saying this he said to him "Follow me." John 21: 15-19
God is not insecure. He knows the conditions of our hearts but why does He ask us whether we love Him? So that we can evaluate our own hearts. He does not need our love but He desires it and he calls us to question whether we TRULY love Him. The most important commandment is to Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind and once we genuinely love Him, Christ will call us to serve Him through loving the people HE loves.
So everyday ask yourself why am I doing this? Is it because I am obligated or is it because I love Christ?
